FedEx, JAPI kick off first-ever int’l trade challenge in RP
FedEx Philippines Country Manager Samuel David delivers his presentation on “Tapping into the Global Market” at the FedEx Express-Junior Achievement International Trade Seminar. The event precedes the first-ever FedEx-JA International Trade Challenge (FedEx-JA ITC) where business and marketing students from different schools nationwide will compete in making the best business plan as judged by a multi-sectoral panel of judges.
FEDEX Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. and the world’s largest express transportation company, and Junior Achievement Philippines, Inc. (JAPI), announced the launch of the first-ever FedEx / Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge (FedEx/JA ITC) in the Philippines
The program aims to educate and inspire young people in the Asia Pacific region to understand how entrepreneurship can improve the quality of their lives and communities. Now on its third year in the region and supported by a 51 million grant from FedEx to JA World wide. ( Junior Achievement ) ever a three-year period, it is being extended to the Philippines for the first time this year.
” FedEx has always been an advocate of educating and inspiring young people and we are very excited to launch the FedEx/JA International Trade Challenge here in the Philippines”, said Rhicke Jennings, managing director for FedEx Australasia.
“Through the FedEx/JA ITC program, we hope to provide avenues for young people in the Philippines to achieve their fullest potential and prepare them to become leaders in our global society.”
Designed to foster business knowledge through practical teamwork exercises and classroom learning, the program comprises two key activities– the International Trade Seminar and the International Trade Challenge.
In the Philippines, the International Trade Seminar was held May 12 at the SMX Convention Center in SM Mall of Asia. More than 70 college students currently studying business or marketing attended the seminar to learn about fundamentals of an effective market entry plan.
During the seminar, participants received first-hand advice from business executives including Samuel David, country manager for FedEx Philippines, David discussed current trends in globalization and market entry strategy and how these relate to the FedEx experience.
